LA Chargers: 3 players on the trade block that LA could trade for
By Jason Reed
2. Marlon Mack
Marlon Mack is another player who has been in the NFL trade rumors. The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly shopping Mack and it has been quite some time and there has not been any reported interest for any team.
For that reason, it is safe to assume that Mack's trade value has gone down and is not very high. If the Bolts wanted to make a move for Mack, they could probably secure the running back for, at most, a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
For a team that is projected to have six compensatory picks in the 2022 NFL Draft a sixth-round pick is nothing. But why would the Bolts even want to trade for Mack when they have a bonafide RB1 in Austin Ekeler.
Because the rest of the running back room has been awful. Justin Jackson has not been good and has already dealt with one injury this season. Larry Rountree is not providing the special teams help that the team desired and has not been great on offense and Joshua Kelley is downright bad.
The team could trade for Mack and either send Kelley in return for depth or outright cut Kelley. Rountree could spend some time on the practice squad and the Chargers would improve the running back depth.
Mack was a 1,000-yard rusher just one season ago and would be a good complement to Austin Ekeler in the backfield. Mack is a free agent after the season but the Chargers could bring him back for a cheap price after getting to know him for over half a season.
A sixth-round pick might be stretching and the Chargers could probably get this done for a seventh-round pick. With Telesco's ties to the Indianapolis Colts, it cannot be totally ruled out.
