3. The overall versatility of the LA Chargers defense

The LA Chargers have a lot of potential on the defensive side of the football in 2021. Some experts are already ranking the Chargers as a top-five defensive team and they have all the pieces to do it.

The most exciting part about this defense is Brandon Staley's vision to have a versatile defense that is impossible to scout for and the versatile pieces that the Chargers have on defense.

Whether it be Derwin James moving all over the field, Nasir Adderley coming down and playing the spot, Jerry Tillery moving to the edge of the defensive line, Joey Bosa moving around to get his best matchup, or having two former safeties in Drue Tranquill and Kyzir White as linebackers, the Chargers define versatile.

P.S. Thanks to all the readers who pointed out that I did not give Tranquill credit as a former college safety on a previous article when talking about Kyzir White.

Everything Staley preached about this defense is not only surprising the other team but giving the team's stars the best matchups to succeed. It will be extremely interesting to see how James moves around the defense, how they utilize Joey Bosa and everything they do with the pieces in the secondary.

Of course, the starters are not playing anywhere close to the entire game and the Chargers do not want to throw out the entire defensive playbook in the preseason but that is the beauty with this defense. In theory, this is an evolving defense that varies by opponent week-to-week, so it will be very fun to watch that evolve in 2021.
