LA Chargers: Top 3 positions to address in the first round
By Sean Basile
Top positions for the LA Chargers to pursue in the first round: 1. Wide Receiver
Finally, I'm going to be dying on this hill until I......... die. Justin Herbert needs another weapon.
He's got Keenan Allen the elite route runner and the Bolts correctly re-signed Mike Williams, his down the field target, but my goodness I cannot stomach another season where the Bolts lead the league in drops.
It happened because Allen and Williams were the only two legit guys out there running receiver routes, and the fact that they were made it a lot easier for defenses to lock in on them and force errors.
You need at least one more guy running those routes who will take some of the heat off of Keenan Allen who was double-teamed like crazy last year. I really want two, but I will settle for one at this point.
The four top receivers right now are Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Treylon Burks, and Jameson Williams. I think there's a good chance at least two of them are available at 17.
You want finesse and elite route running? Give me Wilson or Williams, though Williams's knee injury decreases his appeal.
You want toughness and yards after the catch/contact? Give me Burks or London. Burks is a Deebo Samuel 2.0 and London is sort of the best tight end in this year's class without being designated as one.
Chris Olave is also there and he's obviously got wheels on him.
Jahan Dotson, George Pickens, Christian Watson, and David Bell may be reaches at 17, but all are very viable with bright futures in the NFL.
The receiver class is loaded this year for the Chargers' taking, and I would be disappointed the most if they chose to pass on one of these better receivers at 17- way more than I would be if they passed on Jordan Davis, Cross, or Penning.

You've already addressed a bunch of areas that give Justin support on the defensive side (Khalil Mack, JC Jackson, SJD etc.). Now you need to make sure Justin has everything he needs on offense to make his job easier and take the workload off of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
