3 2021 NFL Draft decisions the Chargers would change with a time machine
By Jason Reed
LA Chargers general manager Tom Telesco has been picked apart for his decisions in NFL Drafts. While Telesco has picked some great players in the first round (Justin Herbert, Rashawn Slater, Joey Bosa, Derwin James), the first round is meant to yield great players and all of those guys essentially fell into his lap.
Where Telesco has been picked apart is his decisions later in the draft. There are some brutal draft classes past the first round on his resume, although he does have Keenan Allen also on his resume, which definitely helps his job security.
Regardless, it should not be controversial to say that Telesco can be better in the draft and the same can be said from the 2021 NFL Draft.
Just a year later, it is clear that the LA Chargers may have been better off making different selections in 2021.
Granted, we are operating with the benefit of hindsight and it is a really hard thing to be an NFL general manager. Some of the changes were obvious at the time and we can definitively that Telesco and co. made a mistake. Other changes are not as obvious and are merely us operating with hindsight.
No draft is going to be perfect but if the LA Chargers had a time machine and could go back and make the 2021 NFL Draft perfect, here are three changes they would already likely make after just one season.
