LA Chargers: What we learned about the AFC West in Week 7
By Jason Reed
The Denver Broncos are a really bad football team
The Denver Broncos started the season with a 3-0 record and there were Bronco fans that were feeling high and mighty. Teddy Bridgewater was the answer at quarterback and this defense would help the team compete not only for a playoff spot but to win the AFC West.
The problem is that the defense is not as good as advertised, Teddy B is fine as a game-manager but is not someone who is going to win you games and the team still has a horrible head coach in Vic Fangio.
Anyone that bought in on the Broncos after they started 3-0 against three of the worst teams in the league is probably upset right now. Denver has dropped four in a row after the 3-0 start and has looked awful while doing it. It is impossible for John Elway to look at his team and think that it can legitimately turn this around and contend for a playoff spot.
Denver was handed its first loss by the Baltimore Ravens, who Denver was favored against! How absurd does that now sound? They were then beaten by one of the worst quarterbacks in the league in Ben Roethlisberger, were thoroughly beaten by the Raiders (once again as favorites) and then lost an ugly game against Cleveland on Thursday Night Football.
But Cleveland is a good team, right? Cleveland was without Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt among a myriad of other injuries.
The Broncos are a bad football team and that 3-0 start is going to look really interesting when the Broncos are picking in the top seven or so in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The 2012 Cardinals finished with a 5-11 record after starting with a 3-0 record, which is the worst finishing record for a 3-0 start since the NFL-AFL merger. The Broncos have a good chance to best that by going 5-12 or worse this season.
