What must happen for LA Chargers QB Justin Herbert to win the MVP
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers easily defeated the New York Giants in Week 14 of the 2021 NFL season and yet again, Justin Herbert shined. The second-year quarterback was taken out halfway through the fourth quarter or he probably would have finished with 300 yards and four passing touchdowns. He was that good on Sunday despite missing his top receiver in Keenan Allen.
Herbert has been lighting it up all season after a record-setting rookie year. While he has had a small assortment of bad games, the great have far outweighed the bad and he is the main reason why the LA Chargers are 8-5 and are in a great spot to make the playoffs.
We have talked about Justin Herbert's MVP chances before here on Bolt Beat but it is starting to feel real. There are only four more weeks left in the season and Herbert continues to be among the best in the league when there is really only one clear-cut favorite and he can easily be surpassed (more on that later).
Justin Herbert can absolutely win the MVP, but two things need to happen.
Justin Herbert has the numbers and we know that he is going to continue to play at a high level. That we are not questioning. There are two others important things to check off the list if Herbert is going to win his first MVP award. One of them he is partly in control, the other he is not.
Let's dive into the two things that must happen, starting with the thing that he is partly in control of.
