The first preseason game of the year was not the prettiest for the LA Chargers. Losing 16-3 was not the story as the team's porous quarterback play with Justin Herbert sidelined took center stage. However, in the NFL there is very little time to reminisce as the Bolts are now preparing for redemption at SoFi Stadium.

This time the Chargers will be the road team, however, as the Los Angeles Rams are the designated home team. The Rams are coming off a 13-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys where second-year quarterback Stetson Bennett somehow looked worse than Easton Stick (throwing four interceptions!).

Whether you are a fan of one of the Los Angeles teams that wants to see how far along they are before the regular season, or are a fan of watching car-wreck quarterback play, the Chargers-Rams showdown in preseason Week 2 might be a must-watch.

How to watch Chargers vs. Rams on TV:

In-market fans can watch the two Los Angeles teams square off on CBS Los Angeles. The game will also be broadcast on the following affiliate stations, per Chargers.com:

  • KSEE (Fresno)
  • KSBW (Monterey)
  • KGMB (Honolulu)
  • KQCA (Sacramento)
  • KFMB (San Diego)
  • KTVX (Salt Lake City)
  • KPSP (Palm Springs)

If one Los Angeles-based television station is not enough, the game will also be broadcast locally on ABC7. Chargers fans who want a Bolts-centric presentation should tune into CBS while Rams fans should tune into ABC.

There are no cable alternatives for out-of-market fans who do not live in an affiliated market. For those fans, live-streaming the game is going to be the best option.

How to stream Chargers vs Rams:

Out-of-market fans are going to have to subscribe to NFL+ to watch this preseason game live. NFL+ shows every live out-of-market preseason game and starts at $6.99 a month.

In-market fans have even more options as they can catch the game live on Paramount+, which will also be the case during the season as well. Fans can also catch the game on CBS/ABC using a myriad of streaming services that carry live television — Fubo, YouTubeTV and Hulu + Live TV are all options. Sling TV does not carry the CBS affiliate, but does carry ABC in select markets.

Chargers vs Rams game details:

  • Location: SoFi Stadium
  • Kickoff time: 4:05 p.m. PT
  • Last preseason matchup: 2023 (34-17 Chargers win)

The Chargers have played the Rams every year in the preseason dating back to 2021. The Chargers are 2-1 in those three matchups against the Rams, not that those outcomes mean anything.

From a 10,000-foot point of view, it will be intriguing to see how defensive coordinator Jesse Minter schemes against Sean McVay's offense. McVay is one of the game's best offensive minds even if he has a bad quarterback under center. Minter's scheme against the Seahawks looked rock-solid but now he is going up against an offensive genius.

And at the very least, it would be nice to see the Chargers actually score a touchdown in this one.
