4 free agents who make perfect sense for Chargers after 2024 NFL Draft

Marquez Valdes-Scantling makes sense for the Chargers
The Chargers drafted three wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft and that may make it seem like there is no longer a need at the position. While the Bolts did a good job of building out the room with youth, it would still benefit LA to sign a veteran wide receiver.
There are several other prominent names that the Chargers could sign (Odell Beckham, Tyler Boyd, Michael Gallup) but because of all the factors in play, Marquez Valdes-Scantling makes the most sense. He might not be the best of the group, but he is the most likely.
The Chargers need someone who can compete for snaps as the X receiver and that is what MVS would do. Sure he has drop problems and has been a bit underwhelming in recent years but he can at least give the Bolts that X receiver option that it is looking for.
Gallup will probably cost as much as MVS so he is also intriguing (if not better), but he has not been connected to the team yet like MVS has. Boyd is not a great fit after drafting Ladd McConkey and Odell Beckham Jr. probably will look to sign with a team that has a better chance of winning the Super Bowl.
This will naturally create a situation where Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson are fighting for a roster spot on the 53-man roster as there will not be enough room for seven receivers. One of those two are inevitably going to miss the cut and be forced to the practice squad, but it will be just fine.
