Chargers winner: Alohi Gilman

The Chargers' secondary has been struggling immensely thus far in the 2023 season. Miami dropped 500 yards on the Bolts in Week 1 and then Ryan Tannehill had one of the best games of his career in Week 2.

There have not been many bright spots in the secondary. Heck, J.C. Jackson was benched in Week 3 and there may not be a path to him getting back into the active roster (unless someone gets hurt). It has not been great.

All that being said, there was one bright spot of the secondary in Alohi Gilman. Gilman flew all over the field on Sunday, making key plays in the red zone and finishing up on tackles to prevent several big plays.

The best play that Gilman made in the game came in the first quarter when he outright stripped the football out of T.J. Hockenson's hands to regain possession for the Bolts. It was a key turnover that the Chargers so desperately needed.

Hopefully, Gilman can build on this performance and it can be a catalyst for the rest of the secondary. If the Chargers want to sniff the playoffs then they at least need a serviceable defense and it starts with the secondary.
