Van Jefferson

Van Jefferson signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons prior to the 2023 season and was hoping to increase his value as a result. Instead, Jefferson played on a team that was a mess offensively and had some of the worst quarterback play in the league. As a result, Jefferson never really got a chance to produce consistently.

This marked the second underwhelming season in a row for the former Rams receiver. The 2022 LA Rams were also a mess offensively and at the quarterback position. Add in an injury for Jefferson and his numbers took a dive after a very promising 2021 season.

The potential is there for Jefferson to be a constant contributor on the right NFL team. In 2021 the second-round pick finished with 802 receiving yards on 50 catches with six touchdowns. He was a reliable deep-ball threat for Sean McVay and the hope would be that Jefferson can be that for the Chargers.

Jefferson is still only 27 years old and after two down seasons, he should be available for the right price. Over The Cap evaluates Jefferson as being worth $2.14 million, which is obviously a number that the Chargers could make happen.

Jefferson is not as much of a jump-ball threat and is more of an open-field deep-ball threat. If the team ends up drafting Brock Bowers in the first round then signing Jefferson to be the WR4 as the field stretcher makes a lot of sense.
