The LA Chargers selected Max Duggan in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft and his tenure with the team was extremely short-lived. Duggan did not make it to the 53-man roster in his rookie season as he has reportedly been waived by the team.

The Bolts will likely want to keep Duggan around on the practice squad, so he may still be in the organization in some capacity. However, after seeing how bad Easton Stick played in the preseason. Chargers fans are not fully confident in him being the full-time backup quarterback.

The Chargers have carried three quarterbacks in each of the last two seasons and there is the new emergency quarterback rule this season. For that reason, it is fair to say that there is at least a chance that the Chargers waived Duggan to create space for someone else.

3 backup quarterbacks the Chargers could claim:

3. P.J. Walker

P.J. Walker is the worst option on this list as he has not had a lot of success as a starting quarterback thus far in the NFL. That being said, he is someone who has at least started some NFL games to this point and that is more than Stick can say.

Plus, Walker hasn't necessarily been in the best situation playing for the Carolina Panthers. There is natural talent there and if the Chargers had to turn to someone to start he would be a better option than stick would be.

Walker was waived by the Chicago Bears and he should find a home somewhere in the league. He might end up being the third option for the Bolts but it would still be better than the alternative.
