5 Chargers-Vikings matchup that will determine the Week 3 outcome
By Sean Basile
(4) Chargers secondary vs. Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison
This is the one we're all sweating, I'm sure.
There's no way around it. The Chargers have allowed 666 passing yards this season (what an eerie number) and 333 passing yards per game. Both rank dead last in football by a healthy margin.
This Chargers secondary has gotten eaten alive by Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Tua Tagovailoa, as well as Ryan Tannehill, Treylon Burks, and Chris Moore (who?) in embarrassing fashion to open up the season.
J-Jettas and Jordan Addison, who's returning to the LA scene where he balled out last year for USC, are just two more major problems the Bolts need to somehow throttle in the passing game.
I do not have the utmost confidence they'll be able to get their stuff together, but then again now all the pressure is on.
We absolutely need Michael Davis, Asante Samuel Jr., Ja'Sir Taylor, JC Jackson, and Derwin James to step up and play the best game they've ever played together. The season is counting on it in so many people's minds.
The offense is scoring points. The pass rush found paydirt last week. The run defense has looked pretty decent thus far. This secondary is the group that's holding this team up at the moment. They are the last line of defense. Hopefully, two weeks of utter embarrassment lights a fire under these guys that we've never seen before.
