After adding eight new names to the roster from the 2022 NFL Draft, the LA Chargers signed 14 undrafted free agents to add training camp depth and compete for a spot on the roster in 2022. Most of the undrafted free agents will end up being cut but as we learn every single year, there are always some hidden gems.

While it is unfair to expect another Austin Ekeler to emerge from this class, there very well could be an Amen Ogbongbemiga that proves his worth in camp, gets a spot on the practice squad and then gets some chances on the active roster during the season.

As far as we are concerned, there are 3 LA Chargers undrafted free agents who have a better chance of making the active roster then their peers.

The 3 undrafted free agents with the best chance of making the LA Chargers roster:

1. Ty Shelby, EDGE

The LA Chargers are lacking depth at EDGE and that is exactly the reason why Shelby could make the roster as a depth option. Emeke Egbule is currently the fourth EDGE on the roster and if the Chargers do not bring in a free agent to bolster the position the Shleby could end up seeing snaps with the Bolts in 2022.

Shelby comes from the University of Louisiana Monroe and tested phenomenally in his athletic traits. The redshirt senior did not have a mind-boggling season stats-wise last season but he did produce, recording 5.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss.

Shelby, a former basketball player, is undoubtedly a work in progress but if the Chargers can hone in on his athleticism and iron out the kinks in his game both in coaching and in working behind Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack then he has the potential to be a contributor at the NFL level.
