Most likely UDFAs to make Chargers roster: TE Michael Ezeike

Speaking of landing a player that was coveted among his UDFA peers, Ezeike was ranked as the best UDFA tight end after the draft, giving the Chargers two potential home run candidates. Ezeike probably has the best chance of anyone on this list to make the roster both because of his talent and the need at the position.

Many fans expected the Chargers to take a tight end in the 2023 NFL Draft for multiple reasons. Gerald Everett is likely gone after the 2023 season, Donald Parham is coming off of a season in which he could barely stay healthy and Tre' McKitty really struggled in his sophomore year.

There are other depth options on the roster, sure, but those are the only NFL-caliber tight end options that the team has. Running four right ends, especially with so many variables with the second and third option, is not an uncommon thing to do.

Ezeike may have a clear path to being that fourth tight end on the roster and who knows, if he really thrives he might actually have a role in this offense.

A former receiver, Ezeike is better than he has any right to be as a blocker coming into the league. It is still very much a work in progress but he does not look like someone who transitioned to tight end. His real value could come in the passing game as a potential redzone target when he actually gets snaps (if he were to make the team).
