Chargers get trapped in elevator ahead of preseason matchup vs Cowboys
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers are preparing for the team's final preseason game before the 2024 season against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. For many players on the roster, this is the last chance to make an impression on the coaching staff to stick around past cut day.
There are already enough nerves for what is a nonconsequential football game and if that was not enough, the Chargers had to get stuck (literally) in the most comical situation prior to Saturday's kickoff.
The team announced late on Friday night that players and traveling personnel were stranded in an inoperable elevator at the team hotel. Thankfully, Dallas Fire-Rescue was able to assist everyone out of the elevator and to safety.

Sorry to anyone who has a fear of elevators. As someone who grew up deathly afraid of elevators, and saw the movie "Devil" as his first-ever in-person date, I can relate. For those who do not know, "Devil" tells the story of a group who are trapped in an elevator and haunted by... you guessed it... a devil.
Thankfully, it does not appear there were any supernatural elements hitting the Chargers and they were able to be rescued. That still does not make the situation any less jarring, especially for massive football players who were likely crammed in that elevator with little breathing room.
It is unclear who was part of the party stuck in the elevator and it will be interesting to see if any players come forward and share their experience in the coming days. Regardless of who it was, getting stuck in an elevator a day before playing a professional football game is less than ideal.
But hey, who knows, perhaps this could be a good omen for the Chargers. Crazier things have served as fuel for a team's Super Bowl push and the 2024 season could end up being remembered as the elevator season.
After all, the Chargers will be in tremendous shape if they opt to start taking the stairs instead.
