The biggest winner of the final day of LA Chargers training camp is Derwin James

It has been so refreshing to see Derwin James back in action during LA Chargers training camp. James is such an important part of this defense and Charger fans have been deprived of seeing him play.

James has played just five combined games the last two seasons and it was okay to be skeptical of how he would return to form this year. It is not easy to recover from the injuries that he suffered and there was no guarantee that the old Derwin would return.

He has and he has been great in camp. Whether it is battling against his own teammate in Keenan Allen or these joint practices against the 49ers, James has been the same hugely impactful safety that we saw in 2018.

James made the play of the day against the 49ers, jumping in front of George Kittle and intercepting Jimmy Garoppolo at the goal-line. James took it back for what would have been a pick-six in a real game.

That is the perfect bow to put on LA Chargers training camp and now the hope is that Derwin, and the rest of the stars in LA, can get to the regular season healthy and stay healthy once it starts.
