Kenneth Murray

There is a long list of players that are going to be looking to have good practices against the Saints. But for the most part, those players (like Elijah Dotson) will also get to play in the preseason game and will get to make a statement there.

These joint practices are a good opportunity for players that likely aren't playing in the preseason but still have something to prove. No player fits that billing more than middle linebacker Kenneth Murray, who is entering a contract season.

Many Chargers fans had already given up on Murray being a productive linebacker after the 2022 season. However, all of the noise coming out of camp around Murray has been extremely positive. This, in turn, has led Chargers fans to wonder if another breakout linebacker season is in the cards.

It seems unlikely that Murray will get a chance to prove if this is legit hype in the preseason so he is going to have to prove it in these joint practices. Murray is going to most likely get the starting nod in Week 1 no matter what, so this is more about him proving himself to the fanbase than to the coaching staff.

These practices won't be full speed so fans won't get a perfectly accurate representation of how well Murray is playing. However, it could be a solid start to what could be an important rebound season for the former Oklahoma Sooner.
