Gerald Everett
The tight end position is one of the most concerning on the Chargers roster right now. Many fans thought that the team would take a tight end early in the 2023 NFL Draft to address this but it was not meant to be. Not only did the Chargers ignore an early-round tight end, they ignored the position altogether.
Ignoring tight end altogether has reared its ugly head thus far in camp. While there have been a lot of offensive highlights there has not been much to get excited about with the tight end position. In the preseason game against the Rams the tight end position was arguably the worst of the entire offense.
Gerald Everett didn't play against the Rams, though, as the Chargers were playing the depth tight ends on Saturday. Everett is going to get legitimate looks against another NFL defense in these joint practices and it will be interesting to see just how he is woven into Kellen Moore's offense.
Everett is coming off the best season of his career and with several concerns behind him, it is important that Everett puts together another great season in 2023. Everett might be forced to play a high percentage of the snaps simply out of necessity so he needs to be on his A-game.
Everett has been one of the quietest starters on the entire Chargers roster during training camp. It would be nice to see him break onto the scene with some great practices against the Saints.
