Chargers vs Titans odds and prediction for Week 15 collision
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers are coming off of the team's biggest win of the season in Week 14 as Justin Herbert outclassed Tua Tagovailoa on primetime. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans are coming off of one of their worst losses of the season as they fell 36-22 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This is an interesting matchup between two teams in the thick of the AFC playoff picture. Both teams have a 7-6 record, the Chargers just don't have the luxury of playing in the worst division in the AFC like the Titans do.
That being said, Tennessee has been a team that has won gritty game after gritty game while the Chargers did not beat a single team with a winning record before outlasting the Dolphins. The Titans also have Derrick Henry, who is going to be coming up against the defense that allows the most yards per carry this season.
It is one of the most compelling matchups of the week and might feel impossible to pick. That is not going to stop us from trying, though.
Chargers vs Titans Week 15 odds:
After being home underdogs against the Dolphins in Week 14 the Chargers get the honor of being home favorites against the Titans. Oddsmakers have made the Chargers a -2.5 favorite at home against the Titans, making them a -118 moneyline favorite. The Titans are +104 moneyline underdogs.
The over/under for the game has been put in a pretty familiar place at 46.5 points. That is right in the middle of the pack as far as the Week 15 games are concerned.
Chargers vs Titans Week 15 prediction:
This is a really tough game because on paper, Derrick Henry should be able to slice through this Chargers run defense and carry the Titans on his back. But on the other hand, Brandon Staley put together a brilliant game plan to keep the Dolphins from doing what they wanted to do offensively and could potentially do the same with Henry.
If it turns into a shootout like it was against the Jaguars the Titans simply don't have the passing game to keep up. A fully-healthy passing attack for the Chargers is miles better than a Titans passing attack without Treylon Burks. That being said, the Titans also have one of the best defensive fronts in the sport to capitalize on a shoddy Chargers offensive line.
Tennessee has allowed 754 passing yards the last two weeks and that is right up the Chargers' alley. As long as offenisve coordinator Joe Lombardi does not get in the way, the Chargers should be able to have a lot of success throwing the ball in this game.
The Chargers have played six games against teams in the bottom 10 in passing yards allowed per game (Titans ranking 31st) and are 4-2. The two losses were against the Jaguars after Justin Herbert's rib injury and the Week 13 loss to the Raiders in which the team was missing four starting offensive linemen and Mike Williams.
With the Chargers getting healthier they are the team to pick in this matchup. I would wait until later in the week to make sure there are not big injuries for the Bolts and they are actually getting their guys back.
If so, I am going with Chargers -2.5 and over 46.5 points with a final score prediction of Chargers 30, Titans 20.
