The release of Madden 24 is right around the corner and that has prompted the return of Madden ratings season. Every player in the NFL gets a number attached to their name that is meant to represent their place in the NFL. Some of the ratings given out to LA Chargers players have been solid, while others have been a bit absurd.
Team ratings are also an important metric to see how the hierarchy of the NFL is shaping up. These ratings naturally get adjusted as the season goes along but it gives NFL fans a good idea of who stands where before the season starts.
Or at least that is what the ratings are supposed to indicate. Sometimes the folks over at EA Sports miss the mark very badly and have to make huge adjustments very soon into the season. That is going to inevitably happen with the offensive ratings for certain NFL teams, as the Chargers were ranked below one of the worst offenses in the sport (despite being top 10).

Chargers are somehow given a lower offensive rating than the Steelers
Look, this list is all sorts of bad. This is more of a drastic overrating of the Pittsburgh Steelers and not a massive underrating of the Chargers. Could the Chargers be higher? Sure. But the fact that the Steelers were given the fifth-highest offensive rating in the league is beyond absurd.
Heck, Eagles fans should be even more outraged than Chargers fans! While the team underwent some personnel changes, the Eagles had a top-five offense in the sport last season and averaged 34.7 points in the playoffs! They should be ranked ahead of the Chargers, even, and definitely should be ahead of the Steelers!
For those wondering at home, the Steelers finished last season with the 26th-ranked offense in points per game and 23rd-ranked offense in terms of yards per game. As an offense they threw more interceptions (14) than touchdown passes (12).
So they must of made some fantastic offensive additions this offseason, right? Well, not really. The team's biggest improvement was on the offensive line but that wasn't made with big-name players that are going to make a world of difference. Pittsburgh's offensive line is still worse than LA's, just ask Pro Football Focus.
And while the Steelers have exciting young receivers, it is not like they are much better (or better at all) than what the Chargers have at the position led by Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Pat Freiermuth is only slightly better than Gerald Everett and Najee Harris had a far worse year than Austin Ekeler in 2022.
Then there is the massive difference at quarterback, which honestly should account for at least 50% of the offensive rating. Justin Herbert is one of the best QBs in the sport while Kenny Pickett isn't even guaranteed to have the job past this season.
This genuinely has to be a typo because there is no world in which the Steelers have a top-10 offense in the sport, let alone a better offense than the Chargers.
