The 2022 NFL schedule is going to get released continually throughout this week. Thus far, we know that the LA Chargers will be on the road in Week 2 as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. Outside of that, the only thing we know about the Chargers is who they are playing and if it will be home or away.
The Chargers' schedule is on the tougher side in the grand scheme of the league but compared to their AFC West peers, they actually have the second-easiest schedule with the Chiefs having a really tough schedule in 2022.
But how do the Chargers fair historically against the teams that they are set to play in 2022?
Starting with the AFC West, here is the Chargers' all-time record against every team that they play in 2022.
Kansas City Chiefs: 58-68-1, 3-7 in last 10
The Chargers had a long stretch there where they simply could not beat the Kansas City Chiefs. From 2014 to 2019, the Chargers' only head-to-head win over Kansas City was the miraculous two-point conversion game in 2018 on Thursday Night Football.
Justin Herbert is 2-2 as a starter against the Chiefs with both of his losses coming in overtime. While one of his wins was against the Chiefs' backups, it is quite clear that the Chargers are on the same level as the Chiefs and regardless of the outcome, take them to their absolute limit each time.
Las Vegas Raiders: 56-67-2, 6-4 in last 10
The Las Vegas Raiders may have the advantage when it comes to the all-time record against the Chargers but the Chargers have dominated the matchup over the last two decades. In the last 20 seasons, the Chargers are 26-14 against the Raiders.
The Chargers and Raiders have split in each of the last two seasons with three of the four games literally coming down to the final play of the game.
Denver Broncos: 54-70-1, 4-6 in last 10
Regardless of how good or bad the Denver Broncos are, the LA Chargers seem to struggle against their AFC West foe. Granted, the last game these two teams played the Chargers absolutely smacked the Broncos in a 34-13 win. The game before that the Chargers played one of the ugliest games of the season, losing 28-13.
Justin Herbert is 2-2 as a starter against the Broncos with both of his wins coming at SoFi Stadium. The last time the Chargers beat the Broncos in Denver was 2018 and in the last 10 years the Chargers have only won in Denver twice.
Let's jump into the Chargers' all-time record against teams they play at home in 2022.
