2 Chargers whose roster chances grew (and 2 whose shrank) after Saints loss

Cutting down the roster to 53 players is going to be hard for the Chargers this year.

Chance of making the Chargers roster shrank: Austen Pleasants

One of the biggest concerns right now for the Chargers is the offensive line depth, particularly at the tackle position. While the starting offensive line is great, the depth options leave a lot to be desired and that has played out thus far in the preseason.

Forster Sarell is the team's best option to be a swing tackle and that job is more than up for grabs. Sarell has struggled in camp and in the preseason and has done nothing himself to win the job. Unfortunately for Chargers fans, nobody else is stepping up either.

Austen Pleasants easily could have won the swing tackle job with a strong camp and preseason but he has looked even worse than Sarell has. There were some truly bad moments for Pleasants in this game as he was one of the key reasons why Easton Stick was being pressured as much as he was.

There are not many other options in-house for the Chargers and the team may simply be rolling with this as the status quo knowing that external help will be needed if someone gets hurt. Chargers fans would much rather see someone like Jason Peters taking snaps over Sarell or Pleasants.
