Chargers release must-see photos of new, state-of-the-art training facility
By Jason Reed
It is officially a new era for the LA Chargers with Jim Harbaugh leading the way as the team's head coach. The timing could not be any better as in addition to a future Hall of Fame head coach, the Chargers are also unveiling a brand-new, state-of-the-art training facility.
The Chargers have called the Hoag Performance Center in Costa Mesa home since moving to Los Angeles and it was time for an upgrade. After several years in a facility that was not built to host an NFL team full-time, Los Angeles is moving to The Bolt.
2024 training camp has long been circled as the grand opening for the Chargers' new facility and the team made it official on Thursday. The Bolt will officially open its doors for the first time on July 13 ahead of training camp, which begins on July 24.
The Chargers also shared pictures of the completed facility and it is easy to see why players and coaches are over the moon for the move. You can find the full-size images here.
Chargers' new practice facility looks out of this world
The Spanos family really did everything they could to build the most state-of-the-art training facility possible for the Chargers. Say what you will about how the Spanos family has operated in the past, the owners did not cut corners when building The Bolt and the images prove that.
I guess this is part of the benefit of not having to pay in full for a new stadium. The Bolts were able to save some money by playing at SoFi Stadium and instantly reinvested that into a training facility that stands up against any other training facility in the league.
This may not directly benefit fans other than having a nicer practice facility to watch training camp at but it should still be celebrated. The Chargers are committing to a higher standard that, hopefully, will result in more consistent success in the future.
Coupled with Harbaugh as the head coach, the Chargers have a real chance to completely wipe away the stigma attached to the team from decades of disappointment. Sustained winning is only possible with a great culture and a great culture is much easier to create in a state-of-the-art facility like this.
Bravo, Chargers. Bravo.
