3. Linval Joseph

Speaking of former Chargers, another potential option for the Bolts is veteran defensive tackle, Linval Joseph. While Joseph did go unsigned after finishing last season with the Chargers he has at least garnered some interest from teams in recent weeks. Joseph recently worked out (but didn't sign) with the New York Jets after Sheldon Rankins' injury.

Joseph might not be the most exciting option, especially with how he played last season, but familiarity is so important to this regime. Telesco has shown a tendency to bring back former Chargers while Brandon Staley has really only wanted to add players who understand the defensive scheme and are familiar with it.

Joseph is obviously familiar with it because of his time with the team last season and that could ultmately make the decision for the Chargers. Even though Suh could have a bigger potential impact, Joseph is the much more likely signing.

There is less flexibility with Joseph as he is a traditional nose tackle through and through and it might be a bit redundant to have him on the field at the same time as Sebastian Joseph-Day, particularly on passing downs.

However, the Chargers simply need bodies and Joseph could be a depth option to give SJD a breather or even line up alongside him in running situations to create a wall in the interior. Anything helps at this point, even Joseph.
