Chargers in danger after 2023 NFL Draft: 2. Foster Sarell

The Chargers re-signed Trey Pipkins to a three-year deal and also re-signed depth center Will Clapp. Outside of that, the Chargers did not really do much to the offensive line during the offseason leading into the 2023 NFL Draft.

It was obvious that the Chargers were going to draft an offensive lineman for depth at some point in the draft and the team did that in the fifth round. The Bolts made a home run selection, taking Clemson's Jordan McFadden.

McFadden has similarities to Jamaree Salyer as he is a talented tackle prospect who played very well at a big program. However, his size has many NFL talent evaluators looking at him as a guard, which naturally hurt his draft stock as it did with Salyer.

Much like Salyer a year ago, McFadden very well could be the "break glass in case of emergency" option for the Chargers off the bench. Foster Sarell is currently the team's only swing tackle option and he played very poorly last season.

While some project him to move to the inside, it seems like McFadden has the fast track to being the team's swing tackle in 2023, taking that job from Sarell in the process.
