Just when it seemed like the LA Chargers offseason could not get any better the team went out and signed the player that almost every fan was clamoring for. The Chargers have reportedly agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million contract with Pro-Bowl cornerback, J.C. Jackson.

The Bolts now have a scary foursome of Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, Derwin James and J.C. Jackson that are going to terrorize opposing offenses next season. It is really hard to find a team that has that much talent in four players in the entire NFL.

As expected, Charger fans went absolutely berserk on social media when the signing was announced. Jackson was viewed as the best-case target for the team by many and the fact that they signed him, after both trading for Khalil Mack and re-signing Mike Williams, is a literal dream come true for many.

Chargers twitter reacts to massive J.C. Jackson signing:

A lot of fans were pointing out the terms of the contract. Jackson is only making $16.5 million per season, which is almost $5 million less than Christian Kirk is making per year. Jackson is set to get $28 million in year one but like we saw with Williams, the initial cap hit is likely going to be much lower and future cap hits will be as well.

Simply put: people are over the moon about this deal for the Chargers.

If fans were not commenting on how great this contract is likely going to be for the LA Chargers then they were simply expressing their joy on social media. Charger fans have not felt this kind of excitement since the LaDainian Tomlinson days in the mid-2000s and quite frankly, this might be the most exciting time to be a Charger fan in team history.

Of course, there is always someone who has to rain on the parade. The Chargers now undoubtedly have one of the best defensive quartets in the league and fans of other teams are coming up with creative ways to discount how talented the Bolts are.

Some are looking at previous years even though half of this quartet was not on the team, others blame the coaching and some are bringing up the typical Chargers "curse".

There is still a lot of work to be done and the Chargers have to go out and actually perform on the field. However, it is impossible to not be excited about what the team has cooking for the 2022 season, especially with other moves that can still be made.
