Chargers news: Instagram posts reveal Kenneth Murray going into surgery Thursday
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers are putting a lot of faith in Kenneth Murray to have a bounce-back third season after the team let Kyzir White walk for just $3 million to the Philadelphia Eagles. Murray will now have a bigger resonsibility in the defense, playing more inside linebacker snaps alongside Drue Tranquill.
Murray was not quite right in the 2022 season as it was a step back from a promising rookie season. The former Oklahoma Sooner underwent shoulder surgery last offseason and injured his ankle in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. While Murray returned from the ankle injury, it did appear to slow him down defensively.
Perhaps the injury was more serious than Murray let on as the third-year linebacker posted a photo of him in a hospital page on his Instagram story. This created questions among Charger fans and those questions were answered by Murray's partner, when she posted on her Instagram story asking for prayers with Murray going into surgery.
The Chargers have not announced the reason for Kenneth Murray's surprise surgery.
Neither Brandon Staley or Tom Telesco mentioned any ailing injuries that Murray was dealing with in any of the press conferences that the two have done. Murray himself has not revealed the cause for this surgery and the team has not released any news on the matter, either.
If it related to his ankle, or anything else that was bothering him during the season, then that could be part of the reason why Murray regressed in his second year. With no information on the surgery, there is no timeline to provide to determine whether or not he might be ready for the start of training camp this summer.

Hopefully it is nothing serious for Murray and it is a surgery that is meant to clean some things up. If it is an injury that delays the start of his 2022 season then the Chargers are going to be in a lot of trouble at the linebacker position.
