The Chargers take a former Justin Herbert teammate in the sixth round for a lot of the same reasons why they took Jack Jones in the fifth round. It is all about building a deep secondary and to do so the Chargers should be taking another safety in the 2022 NFL Draft.
McKinley would be a decent depth option for the Chargers in case of an injury that the team could utilize in passing downs. McKinley showcased the ability to be versatile at Oregon and could even come down and play slot in certain matchups.

Linebacker is not a priority in Brandon Staley's defense but don't be surprised if the team still looks to replace Kyzir White's spot on the depth chart with another linebacker late in the 2022 NFL Draft. Obviously, no prospect at this stage is going to give starting reps in 2022 but can provide depth and a special teams presence.
Campbell is a traditional down-hill, run-stuffing inside linebacker that is looking to plug running lanes and get to the quarterback on blitzes. He could blossom into a defensive weapon after a year or two in the league, but for now, his hard-hitting nature will be welcomed in special teams.
