3. Michael Davis

Michael Davis came into the 2023 season fresh off of a great 2022 season for the Bolts. Once the cornerback room crystalized late in the 2022 season fans started to see elite-level play out of Michael Davis. Davis, who many thought would be a cap casualty in the 2023 offseason, became a no-brainer to bring back.

Unfortunately, that strong play has not carried into the 2023 season as Davis has arguably been the worst member of the entire Chargers defense. J.C. Jackson received a lot of the blame before he was traded but Davis was just as bad, if not worse.

Davis turned in another sloppy game against the Dallas Cowboys. Any time that the Cowboys needed a completion in a big spot they would seemingly target Davis, who was not even making it competitive for Ceedee Lamb in the passing game.

Davis also had an extremely consequential missed tackle on Tony Pollard that eventually led to a Dallas touchdown. The Cowboys picked up a huge gain on a broken play that could have ended with being a modest gain just past the sticks as long as Davis made a routine tackle.

Instead, Davis was spun around like a top and Pollard went for 60 yards. The Chargers' defense played fairly well all things considered but when the defense was beat, it was often because of Davis.
