4. The Chargers' door is now open for a big run

Finally...... and I know I'll get eye rolls for this, but the Chiefs winning this year opens us up to make a run in 2024 whether we win the AFC West or not. Just put us in the race.

It's the hardest thing to do in sports in the modern era- repeating as champions. Even repeating as conference champions in the NFL.

We have not had a back-to-back Super Bowl winner since the Patriots did so in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX.

Yes, the Chiefs are a great team that is more than capable of repeating, but in today's sports world it is still one of the most difficult things to do considering the level of parity and the level of talent in so many organizations.

I know, I know......winning the AFC is a completely different animal entirely. They can still win the AFC and lose the Super Bowl. I get all that. But at the same time, there is bound to be some level of pullback even from the greatest of teams after a Super Bowl run. That's just the way it is.

At the very least, they will be vulnerable to be beaten under the right circumstances, and......call me crazy if you want to, but I believe the Chargers with Justin Herbert at quarterback and Kellen Moore now calling the plays on offense will have what it takes to vanquish the Chiefs in a playoff game considering how closely the two teams have played ever since Justin came into the league.

As far as I'm concerned, the door is open for the Bolts to put themselves in the Super Bowl bubble. Next season *should be* one where a non-Chiefs team makes a Super Bowl run considering recent history. I see no reason the Bolts can't be in that conversation despite their flaws.

MUST-READ: Pre-Combine Chargers Mock Draft

Why exactly do the Chargers need to "learn" about their window being open? Because they need to confidence in themselves to go out and crush this offseason, put more guys around Justin on the offense, and take 2023 by storm. This is the Chiefs' division, but it can be the Chargers' if the right buttons are pushed.
