New Chargers WR admits he has been stealing Keenan Allen's moves 'for years'
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers have been blessed in having one of the most talented wide receivers in the entire league for almost a decade now. Keenan Allen has been a constant presence in the Chargers' offense and will likely go down as the best receiver in franchise history when it is all said and done.
For a long time, Allen was one of the most underrated receivers in the league as he was not overly flashy and did not have the same explosiveness as other big-name receivers. Allen simply kept his head down and proved that he is one of, if not the, best route runners in the game.
Allen has gotten more respect in recent years from NFL media and one entity that he has always gotten respect from is fellow players. Game recognizes game and there is a reason why someone like Ja'Marr Chase thinks Allen is a top-two receiver in the NFL.
Allen's route-running ability certainly influences other receivers in the NFL and that is starting to pay off for the Chargers. Newly-signed receiver DeAndre Carter has been turning heads during camp both in special teams and in the offense and when asked about his relationship with Allen, Carter confirmed the influence that he has had on his game.
Carter also said in the same press conference that he has been "stealing moves from Keenan for years". That is obviously starting to pay off for the Chargers as Carter may have a big role on the offense this season after his fantastic showing in training camp.
DeAndre Carter is not the only Chargers receiver benefitting from Keenan Allen.
It does not stop there, either. Keenan Allen has had a positive impact on Mike Williams' game for several years now and has had an even bigger impact on second-year receiver Josh Palmer. Palmer is everyone's pick for breakout player of the year on the Chargers and a big reason why is the influence that Allen has had.
Palmer was already a talented receiver coming into the league but he has not shied away from sharing the impact that Allen has had on his game thus far in his career. It is clear that Allen has taken a mentorship role with Palmer, which is fantastic for the franchise.
Not only is Allen having a massive impact with the numbers he is producing as a reliable target for Justin Herbert but he is elevating those around him, whether or not they have been with him their entire careers or have just now joined the team.

That is the definition of a superstar and is why Allen is one of the best wide receivers in the entire NFL.
