4. AJ Finley

Jaimes was not the most surprising player to make the Chargers' 53-man roster as that honor instead went to safety AJ Finley. Before the roster cuts happened, it seemed like the Chargers were deciding between safety Mark Webb Jr. and cornerback Tiawan Mullen for that final spot in the secondary.

In reality, the Chargers went with the undrafted standout in Finley. Not only that, but the Chargers didn't even bring Webb or Mullen back on the practice squad. It never really seemed to be a decision for the Bolts.

While there are undoubtedly promising aspects of Finley's game that the Chargers can call upon, the fact of the matter is that he is the fifth safety on the depth chart for the Bolts. There is absolutely no reason for the Chargers to carry five safeties on the active roster.

Finley is going to have to wait until someone ahead of him gets hurt to make his NFL debut as he is one of the leading candidates to be inactive every single week. That is simply the life of an undrafted rookie who may have been the 53rd and final player picked by the team to make the final roster.
