The LA Chargers played their first professional football game in the Brandon Staley era against his former team, the Los Angeles Rams. The Chargers emerged victorious, 13-6, and there were plenty of exciting takeaways from the game.

The Chargers now host the San Francisco 49ers in preseason Week 2. Even though we already have one preseason game in the books, we are not going to see more of the big-name starters playing in this one.

Brandon Staley already confirmed that Justin Herbert and Derwin James, among a myriad of other veterans, will not play at all in the preseason. That definitely has an impact on the betting lines for this preseason game.

Chargers vs. 49ers odds for preseason Week 2:

According to WynnBET, the LA Chargers are three-point underdogs against the 49ers. This is after the team was three-point favorites against the Rams. Chargers +3 has -116 odds, while 49ers -3 has -108 odds.

The moneyline for the contest is set at +125 for the Chargers and -160 for the 49ers. For those that are unfamiliar, any positive odds entail winning more than you bet, negative odds entail that you have to "pay the juice". In this case, a $100 bet on the Chargers would win you an additional $125 ($225 total). Meanwhile, you would have to bet $160 in order to win $100 ($260 total) on the 49ers.

Chargers injury report vs. 49ers preseason Week 2

As mentioned, while it does not have to do with injuries, most of the starters are not going to be playing in this game and if they are it will be for a very short amount of time.

The only injury right now that could have an impact on this game for the Bolts is Justin Jackson. Jackson was hurt in the first preseason game and it will be interesting to see how the team manages his workload moving forward.

It might not even matter all that much as Larry Rountree III was great in the first preseason game.

Chargers vs. 49ers prediction for preseason Week 2

As much as I love the Chargers and was really excited about the tempo I saw from the team against the Rams, I have to go with 49ers -3 in this game. The big difference is the quarterback play of Chase Daniel and Easton Stick vs. the 49ers, who have Trey Lance, who looked great last week.

The results don't matter, individual performances do. The defense will keep the Chargers in this one but Lance will be the deciding factor.
