There is a lot of excitement around the LA Chargers as we head into the 2022 season. This is a team that is absolutely good enough to compete for the Super Bowl and the ultimate dream for every Charger fan is for the franchise to finally get over the hump.

While that might be the ultimate dream for the Chargers, there are individual dream scenarios throughout the season that could help the Chargers accomplish the goal of winning the Super Bowl.

Here are 4 dream scenarios for the LA Chargers in 2022:

1. The run defense is even better than advertised

The run defense was a problem for the LA Chargers last season and it ultimately did not allow Brandon Staley to run the kind of defense that he wanted to run. That is why Staley and Tom Telesco focused on the defensive line and completely rebuilt what the Chargers have up front.

On paper, the Chargers should have solved the run defense problems from last season. Sebastian Joseph-Day and Austin Johnson are two of the best run-stuffers in the league on the interior and the team also drafted a run-stuffer in Otito Ogbonnia.

There is no doubt that the Chargers' run defense will be better than it was last season and at the worst, it should be around league average. A dream scenario for the Bolts is the run defense being even better than expected, becoming one of the best in the entire league.

Why is this such a dream? It opens up things on the defense for Staley to realize his vision and turn the entire defense into one of the best in the league. The defensive ceiling of this team starts with the run defense, even though the NFL is a passing league.
