The LA Chargers have drafted some truly elite players in the first round of the NFL Draft in recent years but they have also executed some massive draft-day steals. Keenan Allen in the third round, Asante Samuel Jr. in the second round and Jamaree Salyer in the sixth round are all examples of draft steals by the Bolts.

A quality draft class not only has the front-line talent in the first round but also has the draft steals in later rounds that round out the talent nicely. If the Chargers get lucky and all goes as planned, the tema can pull off several of these draft steals again in 2023.

5 possible steals the Chargers could make in the 2023 NFL Draft:

1. Luke Musgrave in round two

It would be shocking if the LA Chargers did not draft a tight end early in the 2023 NFL Draft. While the team has Gerald Everett, Kellen Moore's offense has been predicated on utilizing multiple tight ends and Everett is only under contract for one more season.

If there was ever a time to draft a tight end it would be in the draft class that is strangely deep with top-end tight end talent.

Luke Musgrave is someone who in other years (if he stayed healthy) would be a first-round prospect at the tight end position. However, the class being as deep as it is and his injury history have pushed him down the big boards.

Musgrave is projected to be an early-to-mid second-round pick and it is absolutely possible that he falls to the Chargers at 54. If he does, the Chargers would be getting one of the most athletically gifted tight ends in the draft who also showed out at the Senior Bowl — an event the Chargers have been known to really value.
