2. Tight end

It seemed very likely that the Chargers would draft a tight end in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Fans did not expect the team to have the litany of choices that it did with the 21st pick as it instead seemed like the team would go with the best player available and it would be either Michael Mayer or Dalton Kincaid.

Kincaid was the only tight end taken in the first round of the draft so there is a decent chance that someone talented falls to the Bolts at 54. Darnell Washington would be an absolute dream but someone like Luke Musgrave is certainly possible, if not plausible.

It would be really surprising if the Chargers didn't come away from the second day of the 2023 NFL Draft without a tight end. The team is very obviously focusing on the offensive side of the ball this offseason with all of the resources that have been poured in.

The team needs someone who can be part of Kellen Moore's offense that heavily features two tight ends in the passing game. It would also give the Chargers someone who can theoretically take over TE1 duties from Gerald Everett if he leaves after the 2023 season.

It doesn't necessarily have to be in the second round but if the Chargers are looking to get someone they are sure will contribute at the tight end position then it should be one of the two selections on day two.
