The LA Chargers selected TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston with the 21st overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft in a move that was surprising to a lot of fans. Regardless of how fans felt about the selection, the Chargers obviously loved Johnston and will craft the rest of the draft class around him.
There are some really exciting prospects that could fall to the Chargers in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Regardless of who falls, there are very obvious positions that the Bolts should be targeting in rounds two and three on day two.
While the team could definitely continue to surprise us, here are the positions that fans should be keeping an eye on.
Most likely positions Chargers will draft on day 2 of 2023 NFL Draft:
3. Defensive back
Brandon Staley is a defensive-minded head coach and he is someone who loves having depth in the secondary to throw at opposing quarterbacks. The Chargers will definitely take a cornerback at some point in the next few rounds and it could be in rounds two or three.
While it is a possibility, this position is less likely because of the players the Chargers already have. J.C. Jackson is progressing greatly from his ruptured patellar tendon and the Bolts might have more cornerback depth than expected. That could push the need back a few rounds.
That being said, there is also a chance that someone falls to the Chargers at 54 that they absolutely cannot say no to. There are 4-5 really talented defensive backs still on the board that could all conceivably be picked by the Chargers at 54 if they fall.
