The NFL Draft is the best way to build a championship roster and the LA Chargers have struggled in that department in recent years. While the team has had star players like Justin Herbert and Derwin James fall in its lap, it has also missed the mark in many other rounds, leading to unbalanced and thin rosters.

There is a new regime in Los Angeles in 2024 with Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh now calling the shots. The hope is that this new regime will learn from the mistakes of the previous regime and put together a draft class that can elevate the team and change the culture of the franchise.

List of 2024 Chargers draft picks:

Update: The Chargers swapped pick 110 and 137 with the New England Patriots to move up four spots in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft to take Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey.

Update: The Chargers were confirmed to be getting a seventh-round compensatory pick for Drue Tranquill. As a result, the team adds the 253rd pick to its arsenal.

Update: The Chargers received a fourth-round pick from the Chicago Bears for Keenan Allen. The new list of draft picks, with the Bears pick included, is as followed:

As it stands right now, the Chargers have all of their own draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. The team has not traded any picks away in any other deals and has not received any picks for trading away talent.

The one extra pick that the Chargers have received is the 256th pick. The Chargers are projected to get a seventh-round compensatory pick for Drue Tranquill signing with the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason. Tranquill was not originally projected to net a compensatory pick. The 256th pick would be the second-to-last in the entire draft.

With the Chargers potentially making trades this offseason (both in the draft and before the draft) it is important to also keep the team's future draft pick status in mind as well.

List of 2025 Chargers draft picks:

  • Own first-round pick
  • Own second-round pick
  • Own third-round pick
  • Own fourth-round pick
  • Own fifth-round pick
  • Own sixth-round pick
  • Own seventh-round pick

There has been no movement for the Chargers yet when it comes to the 2025 NFL Draft. That being said, it would not be shocking if the Bolts pick up additional picks from other teams in the 2025 NFL Draft for trades that could be made this offseason.

This list can also be added to with free agents from this offseason. Austin Ekeler and Gerald Everett are the two favorites to net the Chargers compensatory pick in the 2025 NFL Draft depending on what they sign for.

List of 2026 Chargers draft picks:

  • Own first-round pick
  • Own second-round pick
  • Own third-round pick
  • Own fourth-round pick
  • Own fifth-round pick
  • Own sixth-round pick
  • Own seventh-round pick

Just like with 2025, the Chargers have not picked up or traded away any future picks at the time of writing. We will be sure to update this list as moves are made and the Chargers potentially add or subtract from the picks they have.

As far as compensatory picks go, the likes of Joshua Palmer, Asante Samuel Jr and Donald Parham are the favorites to net picks for the 2026 NFL Draft. Khalil Mack, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Eric Kendricks and Rashawn Slater all have their contracts expire but none will likely net any comp picks. Some will get waived this offseason and the others will get extended/re-signed.
