Brandon Staley's first season with the LA Chargers was promising but did not result in the ultimate goal. While the team undoubtedly established a new identity and the future is really bright, it still fell short at the end of the day, missing the playoffs with a 9-8 record. Even if the Chargers would have lost in the first round of the playoffs, the fact of getting there and getting that experience would be huge.

All in all, the team is moving in the right direction (even if some fans are not happy about Staley's first season) with a huge offseason coming up ahead. It is still way too soon to question Staley's job security, although it is safe to say that he was not the savior of the Chargers that we thought he would be in year one.

But where does LA Chargers head coach Brandon Staley rank among his peers?

There are a lot of good coaches in the NFL and just like we did with Justin Herbert, we decided to stack Staley up against his counterparts. However, unlike the quarterback rankings piece, there are not 32 coaches to rank.

In total, there were 23 coaches that we ranked alongside Brandon Staley. As it currently stands, there are seven vacancies and two interim coaches (Rich Bisaccia and Darrell Bevell) who might not be the head coach next season. While Bisaccia has a chance, we still decided not to include him.

The rankings are based on historical success as well as current success. We will explain each ranking as we go. Disagree? Let us know in the comments! Let's dive into them.
