Austin Ekeler picked up right where he left off for the LA Chargers in Week 1 of the 2023 season. Ekeler rushed for over 100 yards and found the endzone to earn himself a nomination as the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Ekeler recently sat down with FanSided to discuss his partnership with FedEx among a myriad of other topics from around the NFL as well as college football.

Chargers' Austin Ekeler talks turf debate, Deion Sanders, fantasy football

Ekeler is someone who has been very durable throughout his career, missing just one game since the 2021 season and it was not due to injury. This has made Ekeler one of the most reliable on-field players as well as in fantasy football, where has had been the RB1 in each of the last two years.

Ekeler touched on his potential fantasy handcuff with Chargers running back Joshua Kelley, who also turned in an impressive showing in Week 1 against the Dolphins, as well as why he loves being a part of the fantasy football community.

Additionally, Ekeler explained how he is able to stay on the field and be as durable as he is. In a world of advanced science and nutrition, Ekeler takes a more conventional approach so much so that it seems unconventional in 2023.

Following the unfortunate Aaron Rodgers Achilles injury for the New York Jets, Ekeler also weighed in on his stance in the turf vs. grass debate that is prominent in the NFL today. SoFi Stadium has been questioned by other NFL stars in the past, so Ekeler's perspective on the matter is relevant to the conversation.

And for the college football fans, Ekeler talked about what Deion Sanders has done for Colorado this season and how the coverage of Colorado has helped grow the brand. Ekeler went to college at Western Colorado and is from Eaton Colorado, which is about an hour away from Boulder.
