Ranking the AFC West tight ends from worst to best in 2023
By Jason Reed
The 2023 season is getting closer and closer and as an ongoing series here at Bolt Beat we are ranking the LA Chargers and every team in the AFC by position group. Thus far the Chargers have ranked fairly well, with the wide receivers being the best of the bunch.
Today we dive into the tight end position, which has a pretty obvious one of one on this rankings. While there is an obvious one of one, the rest of the division all will make its case to have the second-best tight end room. So who actually gets that nod? Let's dive into the rankings.
4. Denver Broncos
- Greg Dulcich, Albert Okwuegbunam, Adam Trautman, Chris Manhertz
To a casual football fan, the Denver Broncos' tight end room looks like it should be among the worst in the league. And to be fair, there is a reality in which the Broncos do have a bottom-five tight end room in 2023.
However, there is some potential in this room that the other teams in the division have to respect. Greg Dulcich is a promising pass-catching tight end that could take a leap in his second season. He showed a lot of potential at UCLA and there is a chance that he develops into one of the better pass-catching TE1s in the sport.
Okwuegbunam is another tight end that diehard football fans (and every Broncos fan) has been raving about. While he has not put it altogether, there is a world in which he complements Dulcich nicely as a healthy TE2 option.
Adam Trautman has ties to Sean Payton, which explains his place in this room, and Chris Manhertz is a guy who has bounced around from team to team. Is the best version of this Denver tight end room among the best in the league? Not at all. But there is a world in which it is at least respectable.
