1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

This is a rather obvious quarterback to rank at No. 1 as Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL. Mahomes has been the best QB in the sport since he took the world by storm in his second season, regardless of what other quarterbacks stepped up in that time.

Sure, Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back MVPs and Tom Brady was able to win a Super Bowl against Mahomes with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but Mahomes has always been the best. The 2022 season was a reminder of that as he arguably had his best season yet after losing his elite WR1, Tyreek Hill.

That being said, Mahomes is going to have a slightly tougher go at things in 2023. Travis Kelce is a year older, Eric Bienemy is with the Houston Texans (not that it matters much with Andy Reid) and the receiver room is even worse than it was a year ago.

However, until Mahomes proves otherwise, Chargers fans simply have to accept that he is going to elevate those around him and still lead one of the best offenses in the sport. That is all he has done in his NFL career thus far.

Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are absolutely beatable and the Chargers are always knocking at the door of doing just that. But until Mahomes and the Chiefs fall off the throne, they automatically have to be considered the best.
