While the division is not getting as much hype as last season, the AFC West is still going to be a dogfight in 2023. The LA Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos all have talent on the roster with the ultimate tiebreaker possibly being the quarterback position.

The quarterback is the single-most important position across all of sports. It does not matter how good the roster is around the quarterback, if a team has one of the worst quarterbacks in the league it is going to struggle.

A team doesn't have to have the best QB in the league to win the Super Bowl but it needs to have someone who is good enough. So who is good enough in the AFC West? Let's rank the division's 2023 signal callers from worst to best.

4. Jimmy Garoppolo, Las Vegas Raiders

The move from Derek Carr to Jimmy Garoppolo was an interesting one for the Las Vegas Raiders. Maybe the team had bigger moves in mind (such as Tom Brady) because it is hard to see Vegas legitimately talking itself into Jimmy G being better than Derek Carr.

That is not to say that Carr is an elite quarterback but he is a better version of what Jimmy G is. Both guys are in the mediocre Kirk Cousins tier where they are good enough to stay in the league but not good enough to lead their team to a Super Bowl.

Carr is arguably the best member of that select group while Jimmy G is one of the worst. There really isn't anything that Jimmy G can do that Carr couldn't do and when it is all said and done, the Raiders are going to realize that they took a big step backward at the position.
