3. LA Chargers

  • Michael Davis, Asante Samuel Jr, J.C. Jackson, Ja'Sir Taylor, Deane Leonard, Kemon Hall

I know, I know. This is an LA Chargers site and we ranked the Chargers third on this list. Don't get us wrong, there is a lot to like about the Chargers' cornerback room heading into the 2023 season. And to be frank, the difference between the Chargers and the No. 2 ranked team on this list is marginal at best.

There is a world in which this cornerback room plays up to its full potential and is the best in the division when we do our end-of-year rankings. If Michael Davis continues to play at the level he did in the second half, Asante Samuel Jr. continues to develop, J.C. Jackson returns and is similar to his previous self and Ja'Sir Taylor develops then it will be an elite room.

However, those are a lot of what-ifs to put on a cornerback room. Samuel continuing to develop is probably the safest bet and Davis playing well is definitely going to happen. But can he be the legitimate CB1 over an entire season? We have not seen him do that.

Jackson is a huge question mark as his injury is typically a career ruiner and it is hard to pinpoint what to expect out of Taylor. Outside of those four, the depth is not as favorable as other teams in the division.

The LA Chargers cornerback room is not going to be a weak point in the division. Even at No. 3, it still is in the better half of cornerback rooms in the NFL with the potential to be truly elite if it all works out well.
