The Chargers are coming off one of the worst seasons in recent franchise history but still have high expectations in 2024. With Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh leading the way, the Chargers absolutely can return to the playoffs and make some noise once there.

Harbaugh and the front office are going to have to put in the work to get there, though. There are several roster holes and impending questions that need to be answered if the Chargers are going to reach their full potential next season.

In order to make the most out of the foundation the Bolts have, there are certain players that should be highlighted as massive game-changers who will not only fill these needs, but make the Chargers a true playoff contender in the process.

Malik Nabers would make the Chargers a true playoff contender

Just to be clear, Marvin Harrison Jr. would also make the Chargers a true playoff contender. The odds-on favorite to draft Harrison is the Arizona Cardinals but the door has at least been opened for Arizona to trade down in the draft, allowing a team to trade up to take a quarterback at four. It goes without saying that if this happens, MHJ has to be the pick.

That being said, it does not have to be Harrison. The Chargers would also land an elite wide receiver prospect if they were to draft Malik Nabers. Nabers is one of the best wide receiver prospects in the draft in recent years and is only No. 2 because Harrison is in his class.

Nabers has legitimate All-Pro potential in his future if all goes as planned and he would be the perfect receiver to step in as the WR2 in his rookie season before taking over the reins as the WR1 from Keenan Allen.

The Chargers need to find a way to replace what Mike Williams brings to the offense. Nabers would not only replace Williams but would likely be an upgrade as well.
