The LA Chargers open the 2022 season against the Las Vegas Raiders at SoFi Stadium. However, the team is officially back in action during the preseason, where the Bolts will have three games to figure out key roster battles and the exact order of the depth chart.
For some, preseason football is a blessing that quenches the thirst of the most football-deprived fans. For others, it is an opportunity to really dissect the roster and get the pulse of the team. For some, it is merely just a sign that real football is almost back.
Regardless of how serious you take the preseason, you are going to want to tune into the Chargers preseason games this season with all of the talent on the roster. While the stars will likely rest as they did last year, there are still plenty of fringe roster players to keep an eye on.
2022 Chargers preseason schedule:
Week 1: vs LA Rams
- Date: Saturday, August 13
- Time: 7:00 PM PDT
The Chargers and Rams will both start the preseason off at their home stadium as the two teams will square off in the first preseason game of the year. This will be a nice appetizer for the late-season showdown between the two teams that very well could end up being an appetizer for next year's Super Bowl matchup.
All in all, the Chargers and Rams may officially play each other three times during the 2022 season.
Week 2: vs Dallas Cowboys
- Date: Saturday, August 20
- Time: 7:00 PM PDT
Look, the LA Chargers have gotten a lot better about drawing in a home crowd and there were not very many games last season where the visiting team outdrew the Chargers. That being said, one of the teams that did get more fans in the building was the Dallas Cowboys.
The disparity in fans will probably be even greater in this game. Chargers fans in Southern California are simply going to want to wait for the regular season to begin to go to games. However, all of the Dallas Cowboys fans (there are a lot) in Southern California that want to see the team at an affordable price are 100% going to show up to this one.
Week 3: at New Orleans Saints
- Date: Friday, August 26
- Time: 5:00 PM PDT
The Chargers have to play a short week on the road in the preseason! How fair is that? Six days after hosting the Cowboys the Chargers will get their last tune-up of the preseason against the New Orleans Saints.
If the short week on the road was not enough, the Chargers are going to end up flying back to LA and staying there as they host the Raiders in Week 1. Honestly, it might be worth it to not even fly out Justin Herbert and the other stars if they are not playing in this game.
But knowing how much Herbert loves football, he will probably be there.
