It's been reported from numerous sources now that the Philadelphia Eagles and LA Chargers were close to a draft-day trade before Los Angeles took running back Omarion Hampton.

Both NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio have speculated about the possible trade at length. The Chargers did use a comfortable amount of clock for the No. 22 pick with the most likely selections, the defensive tackles, being off the board.

One week after the 2025 NFL Draft, we are finally getting some key details about the negotiations from draft night, albeit not the entire projected trade. In a new video from the Eagles' series "Unscripted", audio from Howie Roseman's end of the call with GM Joe Hortiz can be heard.

"What's going on?" Roseman asks. "Say that again-32, 64...Okay, give me 30 seconds, I'll call you right back."

Chargers asked for at least the No. 64 pick to trade back with Eagles

Roseman can then be heard telling his draft room that Hortiz said to, "do his deal or no (deal)". The trade obviously didn't come to fruition after Los Angeles selected Hampton. The Eagles' very next call, as seen in the video was to Packers GM Brian Gutekunst at 23. Philadelphia ended up trading up just one spot with the Kansas City Chiefs to select Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell.

Ultimately, it's hard to make out what Hortiz's trade demands to move back were without hearing his side of the call. But it seems like he wanted a good amount to move back 10 spots with the request of the No. 64 pick, in addition to other undisclosed parameters.

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Jim Harbaugh raved about Hampton and said that in addition to the Eagles, there were "a few others" looking to trade up.

"For this player, it's going to have to be something that blows us away," Harbaugh said. "And there were some good deals where we said 'this is our guy, let's press the button and pick him.'"

The Chargers and Eagles would reconvene in round five when they did end up making a trade. For the rights to select Syracuse TE Oronde Gadsden II at pick #165, the Chargers gave the Eagles two of their sixth-round picks (No. 181, No. 209).

Ultimately, we'll probably never know the full terms of Hortiz's trade offer to Roseman. But LA felt comfortable enough to take Hampton in any event, feeling that he was one of last blue chip prospects of the class.
