New Chargers conspiracy seems to point directly at Keenan Allen's return

This is getting complicated.

Keenan Allen's future with the LA Chargers is one of the more interesting stories to come out of the 2026 NFL Draft. Allen returned to the Chargers after a long offseason standoff last year, and now, the team finds itself in a similar situation, even though there is less reason to be in said standoff.

As an internal free agent, there was no reason to wait until after the NFL Draft sa it did not impact the compensatory formula. But by waiting until after the draft, Allen's future seems more in jeopardy than it has been in the past after the team took Brenen Thompson in the fourth round.

It's still unclear what the future holds for Allen and the Chargers, but eagle-eyed fans at The Bolt may have provided us all with an interesting hint. Allen's locker is still up (and fully stocked) at the Chargers' facility as of draft weekend. Huh.

Keenan Allen locker sparks new Chargers conspiracy

It's certainly worth noting that Allen's locker remains untouched months after his last contracted game with the Chargers. There are other empty lockers as seen in this video, and the Bolts easily could have done the same with Allen.

It is important to note, though, there are other players not under contract whose still have a nameplate up in the locker room. Bobby Hart and Andre James still have a locker spot despite being free agents as well.

Perhaps the Chargers are waiting for free agents to sign with other teams before clearing out their lockers. There is one important note, though: neither Hart or James has much in their locker other than the nameplate and shoulder pads. Allen's locker is still full.

Regardless, this seems to support the idea that Allen will return to the Chargers in 2026. After all, Joe Hortiz said himself that he wanted to bring the veteran wideout back and Allen has been very clear that he only wants to play in Los Angeles at this stage of his career.

Is the wide receiver room a bit more crowded with Thompson in it? Sure. But there's still room for Allen. The Chargers haven't added any other wideouts and Thompson would essentially just replace Derius Davis on the roster.

Allen, Thompson, Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre' Harris, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith make up a six-man wide receiver room. That's standard for an NFL roster, and it would be far better for the Chargers to have Allen instead of Davis on the 53-man roster.

There is no such thing as too much talent at wide receiver. Sure, it could eat into some of Harris and Lambert-Smith's snaps but that shouldn't be the key deciding point. The Chargers need to do what's best for Justin Herbert and the team at large, not what's best for a 2025 fifth-round pick's development (which can still happen even with Allen on the roster).

Yet again, we find ourselves in a place where Allen's return seems to be written in the stars. The main question now is why it hasn't happened
