Najee Harris' tenure with the LA Chargers has been noteworthy and we are still months away from the start of the 2025 season. Rumors of a firework mishap on the Fourth of July turned into a reality for the Chargers as it was confirmed before training camp that Harris injured his eye and would be put on the NFI list.

The Chargers have been rather cryptic about Harris' status since then. His agent said that it was a superficial injury and he would be ready for the start of the season. However, Jim Harbaugh's latest comments made it seem as if it was up in the air whether or not Harris would even practice during camp.

Well, Harris did make his first appearance at Chargers training camp but it was not in a practicing capacity. Harris showed up to camp on Thursday donning an outfit that intentionally revealed nothing about the status of his eye.

Najee Harris' first appearance at Chargers training camp leaves fans with more questions than answers

Harris' debut at Chargers training camp did not provide the clarity that some fans were hoping for. To be fair, it was always unlikely that Harris would reveal the status of his eye injury before he had to. This was always going to be how his first appearance would happen.

That being said, it's still a great thing that Harris is able to get out to the practice facility to be with his team. While there may be ongoing treatment, he is no longer in a place where he has to be completely absent from camp.

It remains to be seen what kind of impact this will have on Harris entering his fifth season in the league. The 2021 first-round pick has never missed a game in his NFL career and there is no doubt he is looking to continue that streak with the Chargers.

However, if Harris doesn't get enough practice time before the start of the season the Bolts may be more comfortable starting him on the IR simply so he can get up to speed. Thankfully, the Chargers have first-round pick Omarion Hampton they can lean on.

Hopefully, this is just step one in what ends up being a promising recovery for Harris and the Chargers. The Chargers need Harris at full strength to be the best version of themselves, and Harris needs to prove that this injury does not impact his performance so it doesn't hurt his NFL future.
