The LA Chargers bolstered their offensive line in a big way by signing former first-round pick Mekhi Becton to a two-year, $20 million contract. Becton is fresh off winning Super Bowl 59 and was a crucial member of the Eales' offensive line.
Becton will presumably start at right guard for the Chargers, which is where he played with the Eagles. The former New York Jets first-round pick wasn't always a right guard, however, as he was initially drafted as a tackle.
It wasn't until Becton joined the Eagles in 2024 that he played guard. The position change completely changed Becton's career and for that, the former first-round pick has nothing but great things to say about his former team.

Mekhi Becton sends heartwarming thanks to Eagles after Chargers signing
It's clear Becton is emotional about leaving the Eagles and it is hard to blame him. It goes deeper than just winning a Super Bowl in Philadelphia as the Eagles helped save Becton's career.
Prior to his stint in Philadelphia, Becton was on track to be a first-round bust who never quite lived up to expectations. His poor play and injury concerns with the New York Jets had him destined to be a backup swing tackle who would eventually fizzle out in the league.
Instead, he landed with one of the best organizations in the sport that clearly saw potential in him as a guard. The Eagles took all of Becton's raw talent and crafted him into being one of the most physical run-blocking guards in the sport.
In a way, the Eagles created the perfect guard for the LA Chargers without even knowing it. Thankfully, the Bolts recognized this and signed Becton to a two-year deal in free agency.
The hope now is that the Eagles' impact on Becton extends far past the 2024 season. In a perfect world, Becton won't just continue his strong play in Los Angeles but will continue building on it under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
This should hopefully just be the start for Becton, who has real potential to be a long-term starter for the Chargers if all goes well. Becton will only be 26 during the 2025 season and the hope is that he is sending a similar message to the Chargers after a long tenure with the team, not a short one.
